About Our Classes

All classes will take place in-person at our Thrive to Five Family Resource Center located on the campus of Thew Elementary School at 2130 E. Howe Ave. in Tempe.
*If you need American Sign Language interpretation or other accommodations for any Thrive to Five class, please make a request 2 weeks prior to the class by completing this form. We will be in touch with you regarding your needs. Follow us on social media

Class Information for April and May 2024
After you submit your Interest Form, you will receive a confirmation email to confirm the information you submitted. If you are selected to participate in a class, you will be contacted at least 7 business days prior to the start of your class time by a Thrive to Five staff member. You must respond to the staff member by the time given to keep your place in the class.

Higher Octave Healing: Start with Music: (0-5 yrs)
Description:
Start with Music is a fun and interactive music class for children aged 0-5 and their caregivers. During this 4-week course, children will sing and play while strengthening bonds with their caregivers and building new relationships with peers. Caregivers will see their child’s social, communication, and literacy skills improve with each class as well as learn about how music can help children learn and grow. All classes are led by a Board-Certified Music Therapist specially trained to work with young children. Each participant will also receive their own instrument kit to use in class and take home with them to keep. Come make music with us!

There will be two morning sessions and each Series is for 4 weeks.

Raising a Reader (8 week course) with Southwest Human Development (0-5 yrs)
Description:
Raising A Reader is a national program designed to educate parents and caregivers about the importance of early literacy skills and how they can help build these skills in their young children to help them enter school ready to learn.
Parents attend eight weekly early literacy workshops with their children, ages 0-5. After each workshop, they take home a bag of age-appropriate books to share with their children. Each week, the bag is exchanged for a new set of books. Families who participate in the program for the 8 weeks, will receive 12 high-quality children’s books to build their home libraries.

Description:
Connecting, exploring and developing their understanding of nature is important for children. Your child will have the opportunity to learn, explore, and discover about how plants grow and explore with soil and gardening tools. This class includes a story time that helps little ones learn parts of the flower.

Description:
Block play will be a fun experience for your child. This will allow your child to have fun building, stacking, creating with blocks! We will offer a variety of Blocks and Legos to enhance your child's creativity, gross motor skills along with fine motor skills. Let’s see what your child can create!

Description:
By exploring both mindfulness and self-expression, we nurture children’s mental and emotional well-being and give parents and caregivers the tools they need to be supportive. Using evidence-based and age-appropriate teaching techniques, children foster mind-body connection, develop compassionate communication, and engage in joyful exploration. Children who learn how to express themselves emotionally can go on to thrive in academics and in other parts of their lives. And when we remove the stigma of mental illness, we start to build a world of acceptance, inclusion, and celebration of the gifts each of us has to offer…… It starts small. It starts simple – It starts with PLAY!
